And according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand will continue to grow at least through 2026.<\/p>\n<p>UWM students will witness that demand when 93 companies who are recruiting engineers and computer scientists come to campus for the Spring 2019 Industry Expo, the UWM College of Engineering &amp; Applied Science\u2019s biannual recruitment event. Employers will be looking to fill jobs, co-ops and internships.<\/p>\n<p>Companies represented will include Rockwell Automation, Northwestern Mutual, Komatsu Mining Corp., GRAEF, Husco International, Kohler, Briggs &amp; Stratton,Milwaukee Tool, Modine Manufacturing Company and American Transmission Co.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEight-eight percent of our students have completed an internship or co-op placement before graduation,\u201d says Juli Pickering, director of career services for UWM\u2019s College of Engineering &amp; Applied Science. \u201cWe have tremendous partnerships with industry, and recruiters value our students for their knowledge base, their experience and their work ethic. They are known for being ready to hit the ground running.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One branch of engineering that has garnered statewide attention lately is manufacturing. (Wisconsin added the second-most manufacturing jobs among U.S. states in 2018, according to an article in theMilwaukee Business Journal, Dec. 31, 2018.) From the classroom to the biannual Industry Expo, UWM works closely with Wisconsin manufacturers \u2013 including advanced manufacturers \u2014 to ensure soon-to-be graduates have access to local jobs while industry has access to local talent.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the media are welcome to attend.
