The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will host this Friday’s debate between Republican Gov. Scott Walker and Democratic challenger and state Superintendent of Public Instruction\u00a0Tony Evers.<\/p>\n

The Oct. 26 debate will begin at 6 p.m. at the Helen Bader Concert Hall in the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts, 2419 E. Kenwood Blvd. It will air live on WUWM-FM and WTMJ-TV and will be simulcast on WGBA-TV (Green Bay).<\/p>\n

WUWM\u2019s Mitch Teich, executive producer of Lake Effect, along with Today\u2019s TMJ4 news anchors Charles Benson and Shannon Sims, will moderate the debate.<\/p>\n

Additional media partners include the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and USA Today Network.<\/p>\n

The debate is a ticketed event and not open to the general public. Tickets are being distributed through the candidates’ campaigns and the event sponsors.<\/p>\n

Members of the public can submit questions for the candidate by texting \u201cDEBATE\u201d and their questions to 414-269-6404.<\/p>\n

Journalists will be able to view the debate on campus. Please contact Lynn Wilk via email at\u00a0lcwilk@uwm.edu<\/a>\u00a0to receive media credentials. Limited space is available, and media access will be arranged on a first-come, first-served basis. Journalists can check in and pick up their credentials starting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, at the Zelazo Center. They should\u00a0enter though the south doors of the building off the parking lot where they will find the media check-in table.<\/p>\n

No video cameras will be allowed into the event, but there will be a brief\u00a0opportunity prior to the start of the debate\u00a0for still photographs. The candidates have been invited to speak to reporters in the spin room following the debate.<\/p>\n

There will be no onsite video or audio distribution. Media outlets can record the signal from Today\u2019s TMJ4\/WTMJ-TV or the livestream from\u00a0tmj4.com<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0wuwm.com<\/a>. Any use of the video must include onscreen notice that the video is courtesy of Today\u2019s TMJ4\/WTMJ-TV.<\/p>\n

Parking for media and the public is available in the UWM Student Union parking structure at 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd.<\/p>\n
