{"id":62958,"date":"2018-09-26T15:16:01","date_gmt":"2018-09-26T20:16:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/?p=62958"},"modified":"2018-09-26T15:16:01","modified_gmt":"2018-09-26T20:16:01","slug":"record-123-companies-to-recruit-engineers-computer-scientists-at-uwm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/record-123-companies-to-recruit-engineers-computer-scientists-at-uwm\/","title":{"rendered":"Record 123 companies to recruit engineers, computer scientists at UWM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MILWAUKEE _\u00a0Demand continues to grow for UWM engineering and computer science students, as demonstrated by the record number of companies that will be recruiting at the UWM College of Engineering &amp; Applied Science Fall Industry Expo on Friday, Sept. 28.<\/p>\n<p>This continued upward trajectory in industry participation at the college\u2019s twice-yearly career fairs underscores businesses\u2019 need for computer scientists and engineers. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for all of the college\u2019s majors will continue to grow at least through 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted by the interest in our students and look forward to a great expo,\u201d said Juli Pickering, director of career services for the college. \u201cIt speaks to our tremendous partnerships with industry \u2013 88 percent of our students complete an internship or co-op placement before graduation. Recruiters value our students for their knowledge base, their experience and their work ethic. They are known for being ready to hit the ground running.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Participating companies include Wisconsin-based Fortune 500 members Northwestern Mutual, WEC Energy Group, Rockwell Automation and Harley-Davidson. Attendees also include Foxconn Technologies Group, Johnson Controls, Quad\/Graphics Inc., Rexnord Industries, GE Healthcare, A.O. Smith Corp., Briggs &amp; Stratton, Generac Power Systems, Modine Manufacuring Co. and more.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the media are welcome to attend. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wisconsin Room of the UWM Student Union,\u00a02200 E.
