Doering, an associate professor of nursing<\/a>, has been executive committee chair for the College of Nursing. Her research focuses on how sleep deprivation affects depression in socioeconomically disadvantaged women after childbirth. Recently she has worked on creating a device to reduce infant death from unsafe sleep environments. She has special interests in postpartum nursing, maternal health, feminist theory and nursing philosophy.<\/p>\nDoering is part of the clinical leadership team for The Periscope Project at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The Periscope Project was created to fill the gap between statewide depression screening initiatives and lack of perinatal psychiatric treatment services in Wisconsin. By offering resources to assist health care providers in treating their pregnant and postpartum patients, health disparities are reduced and healthy birth outcomes are increased. Doering is the evaluation team leader responsible for the design, implementation and reporting of the evaluation of The Periscope Project.<\/p>\n
An alumna of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar program (2008-2011), Doering is also an adjunct assistant professor in the Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Southeast Wisconsin.<\/p>\n
Doering received her master\u2019s and doctorate at the University of Arizona College of Nursing. She earned her bachelor\u2019s in nursing at the University of Minnesota College of Nursing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
