Administrators and educators in the Peck School of the Arts secured major grants this semester to pilot a new approach to community programming and art-making in the Kenilworth Square East INOVA Gallery, located at 2155 N. Prospect Ave.<\/p>\n

Funding for the revived gallery space includes $20,000 from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation\u2019s Mary L. Nohl fund; $30,000 from Milwaukee Public Schools Arts and Humanities Partnership; and $95,000 from the Brico Fund.<\/p>\n

The Kenilworth Community Engagement Initiative is now wrapping up its pilot run, which director of community engagement and art education professor Kim Cosier calls \u201ca grassroots project driven by our faculty and staff in real partnership with community organizations to reflect the Peck School\u2019s philosophy of \u2018making with\u2019 the community rather than \u2018making for\u2019 the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cosier and a team of Peck School educators and facilities managers crafted plans in 2017 to transform the gallery into a showcase for community art projects. Peck\u2019s community engagement team reviewed project proposals in late 2017, accepting and fully or partially funding six projects for the spring-semester pilot. These include:<\/p>\n
