The Lubar Entrepreneurship Center plunges headlong into Milwaukee Startup Week, hosting three free events designed for emerging entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

They are part of more than 50 workshops, networking events and pitch competitions going on in Southeast Wisconsin beginning the week of Nov. 6.<\/p>\n

UWM\u2019s Startup Week events include:<\/p>\n

Nov. 7 \u00ad- Pub Talk with Maria Santacaterina from Bright Cellars<\/a>.<\/strong>
\n7-8:30 p.m. Gasthaus, ground floor, UWM Union.
\nSantacaterina speaks again at 8:30 p.m. at the Collegiate Entrepreneurs\u2019 Organization, which is open to the public, in Room N146, Lubar Hall, 3202 N. Maryland Ave.<\/p>\n

Nov. 9 – \u201cPop Up: Innovators Guide to Design Thinking\u201d<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

5-7:30 p.m., Marquette\u2019s 707 Hub, 1102 W. Wisconsin Ave.<\/p>\n

In this event, UWM and Marquette team up to explain how \u201cdesign thinking\u201d can make you more creative in general.<\/p>\n

Nov. 11 –<\/strong> UWM Business Model Canvas Mixer<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

9-11:30 a.m., Room 1150, KIRC, 3135 N. Maryland Ave.<\/p>\n

Teams involved in UWM\u2019s Student Startup Challenge, one of four business competitions on campus, kick off their training and mentorship journeys. Come and hear about the process.<\/p>\n

The Lubar Entrepreneurship Center is at the heart of UWM\u2019s ecosystem, encouraging students to develop their ideas, launch businesses and gain skills that come from the entrepreneurial experience. In four years, 49 active startups have launched.<\/p>\n

Already this semester, staff has staged four Pub Talks, in which area business leaders lead a casual discussion in a relaxing atmosphere, and 30 Pop-Ups, mini-workshops designed to stimulate innovation.<\/p>\n

There are also nine for-credit courses, called Ideas Challenge courses, embedded in the curriculum that will land students in the middle of working on their own business-related idea, or someone else\u2019s.<\/p>\n
