Seven films directed by UWM alumni won awards at the 2017 Milwaukee Film Festival. In total, alumni won $25,000 and additionally received over $50,000 in production services.<\/p>\n

Shannon McInnis, BFA 2017, won the $2,500 Cream City Cinema College Filmmaker Award for her film \u201cANGELAAA.\u201d<\/p>\n

Damien Blue, BFA 2017, won the $5,000 Milwaukee Music Video Award for IshDARR\u2019s song \u201cLocals.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Five alumni-directed films received support from Milwaukee Film\u2019s Brico Forward Fund, which helps develop works in progress and future productions.<\/p>\n

The 2017 fund awarded a pool of $50,000 and over $60,000 in sponsor-donated production resources, which include camera rentals, postproduction audio and visual services, lighting rentals and legal consultation.<\/p>\n

UWM 2017 Brico Forward Fund recipients are:<\/p>\n

\u201cDying of Thirst,\u201d directed by Daniel Boville, BFA 2011, received $7,500 cash and $12,500 in production resources from North American Camera and Independent.<\/p>\n

“Pet Names,”<\/a> directed by Carol Brandt, BFA 2014, received $5,000 cash and $5,000 in production resources from Independent.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Inhabitants,\u201d directed by Tate Bunker, MFA 1997 and senior lecturer in the Peck School of the Arts, received $10,000 in production resources from Electric Sun and four days at Steinhafels Studios.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Pursuit of the Stars,\u201d directed by Jessica Farrell, BFA 2012, received $2,500 cash and $12,500 in production resources from North American Camera, Independent and Electric Sun.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Grave Situation,\u201d directed by Michael Vollmann, BFA 2006, received $2,500 cash and $12,500 in production resources from North American Camera, Independent and Electric Sun.<\/p>\n

\u201cDeer Queen,\u201d directed by MFA alumna Brooke Thiele; Manlife<\/a>, directed by MFA alumnus Ryan Sarnowski; and \u201cSeeking Century City,\u201d directed by Adam Carr and BFA alumnus Wes Tank, received special mentions for the Cream City Cinema Jury Award.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
