UWM’s Solar Ambassador Team is helping Milwaukee nonprofits go green.<\/p>\n

Working with RE-volv, a nonprofit that covers the upfront costs for other nonprofits’ solar projects, UWM\u2019s student service group is helping crowdfund its second solar energy upgrade.<\/p>\n

The UWM Solar Ambassador Team is raising money to help a local nonprofit install solar panels on its roof.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

If the team raises $10,567 by April 4, it will install a solar energy system atop the River Revitalization Foundation’s building at 2134 N. Riverboat Road. The River Revitalization Foundation is a Milwaukee nonprofit land trust that conserves, preserves and protects the Milwaukee, Menomonee and Kinnickinnic rivers.<\/p>\n

The project will reduce the foundation’s energy costs by at least 15 percent annually, and you can make donations at this website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Organizations working with RE-volv can sign a 20-year, lease-to-own contract on their green energy projects and repay RE-volv with savings from their utility bills. RE-volv uses a mix of crowdfunded donations and client payments to support its future projects.<\/p>\n

In 2016, the UWM Solar Ambassador Team funded a $16,710 campaign to install solar panels on the roof of Milwaukee’s Riverwest Co-op, which will save the grocery store $40,000 in long-term energy costs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
