(UWM Photo\/Troye Fox)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The topics of the books, monographs and recorded media shown included a social history of the American census and a tracking of women and crime, as well as a history of the modern computer and an examination of how Chicago\u2019s neighborhoods shaped the city.<\/p>\n<p>The works, published between April 2015 and March 2017, have been added to the UWM Authors Collection, which now has more than 3,075 items. It is located in the Golda Meir Library\u2019s fourth-floor Special Collections area.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony also marked the official launch of the <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/libraries\/2017\/02\/08\/lib\/\" target=\"_blank\">UWM Authors Browsing Collection<\/a> in the library\u2019s first-floor Daniel M. Soref Learning Commons, which showcases selected books published since 2011 that may be browsed or checked out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very excited to feature this important collection of UWM\u2019s research output, and to do so in a place that invites casual as well as intense engagement with the books,\u201d said Michael Doylen, interim libraries director. \u201cThe UWM Authors Browsing Collection and Authors Recognition Ceremony are a way of shining a light on some of the world-class research being conducted at UWM, which contributed to the university\u2019s\u00a0R1 status.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The UWM Libraries and the Graduate School co-sponsored the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than 100 new published works by UWM faculty and staff were on display at the biennial Authors Recognition Ceremony March 7.
