He was recognized for advocating on the college\u2019s behalf locally, nationally and internationally.\n<figure id=\"attachment_35491\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35491\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-35491 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2016\/07\/CHS-awards-Gelfer-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Professor Marylou Gelfer won the College of Health Sciences Leadership Award. \" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2016\/07\/CHS-awards-Gelfer-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2016\/07\/CHS-awards-Gelfer.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-35491\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Professor Marylou Gelfer won the College of Health Sciences Leadership Award.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>\n<li>Marylou Gelfer, professor and graduate program director with the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, won the College of Health Sciences Leadership Award. She was honored for service and achievements that exemplify and support the college\u2019s mission, vision, values and strategic plan.<\/li>\n<li>Joel Spiess, an academic advisor in the Office of Student Affairs, and Hanh Trinh, an associate professor with the Department of Health Informatics and Administration, won the College of Health Sciences C.A.R.E.S. Award. The award recognizes the recipients\u2019 exceptional dedication to the college and service to students.<\/li>\n<li>Eduardo Bonilha and Kris O\u2019Connor won the Dean\u2019s Award for Outstanding Service. Bonilha is an I.S. Technology Services senior from Business Administration and Technology Operations; O\u2019Connor is an associate professor with the Department of Kinesiology, Exercise Science and Health Promotion unit. They were lauded for their contributions to the service mission of the college and demonstrating outstanding character and motivation in promoting the college.<\/li>\n<li>Kyle Ebersole and Arun Garg won the Dean\u2019s Research Award. Ebersole is an associate professor and chair in the Department of Kinesiology, Integrative Health Care and Performance; Garg is a distinguished professor in the Department of Occupational Science and Technology. They were honored for their exemplary conduct in the pursuit of quality research and scholarship.<\/li>\n<li>Amanda Smith, a clinical assistant professor and diagnostic medical sonography program director for the Department of Biomedical Sciences, won the Byoung Kim Teaching Excellence Award.
