The UWM department of History hosted the Southeastern Wisconsin National History Day competition March 19 for the 16th consecutive year.<\/p>\n

Nearly 300 students and their families competed in the categories of exhibits, documentaries, websites, papers and performances. Schools represented were from Kenosha, Milwaukee, Whitefish Bay, Greendale, Franklin, Glendale, Bayside, River Hills, Mequon, Trevor, Wauwatosa, Sussex, Burlington, McFarland, Waterford and Thiensville.<\/p>\n

The top three in each category will advance to the state competition; state winners will go on to national competition.<\/p>\n

The competition was organized under the leadership of Ellen Langill, senior lecturer in the department of History.<\/p>\n

The process was assisted by more than\u00a080 judges, including faculty, graduate students and graduate alumni from the departments of history at UWM, Alverno and Marquette \u2013 along with other Milwaukee-area residents\u00a0with an interest in history who have made this competition part of their regular spring schedules.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
