Peck School of the Arts\u00a0graduate students in The Leonard Sorkin Institute of Chamber Music will perform live accompaniment March 3-6 to an upcoming Danceworks Performance Company production, \u201cWriting About Music\/Dancing About Architecture.\u201d<\/p>\n

While student dancers occasionally work with community dance companies, it isn\u2019t usual for music students to have such collaboration built into their curriculum, according to Bernard Zinck, associate professor of music. Zinck saw it as an opportunity for the musicians: \u201cDance offers another way of expressing emotions, musicality and ideas. Musicians can gain a broader understanding by exploring and observing these different mean of expression.\u201d<\/p>\n

Danceworks has long focused on interdisciplinary collaboration and was enthused about the opportunity, said Dani Kuepper, artistic director. Dancers enjoy performing with live music, she added. \u201cThere is an exchange of thought and nuance that is much more rich than what can occur with recorded sound.\u201d<\/p>\n
