UWM\u2019s Office of Socially Responsible Evaluation in Education published the results of its Milwaukee Public Schools climate survey on a new website, www.udisp.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lead by Senior Scientist and Director Curtis Jones, the office worked with Milwaukee schools to survey students and staff about the learning climate at their schools in 2014-2015.<\/p>\n

The survey was based on the 5Essentials survey, designed by the University of Chicago, which measures five essential aspects of school climate that are highly predictive of school improvement: effective leadership; involved families; supportive environment; collaborative teachers; ambitious instruction.<\/p>\n

The response from schools was strong. More than 5,400 staff members and 20,500 students in grades four through 12 completed surveys. Of these, 132 schools had response rates greater than 40 percen on\u00a0the student survey, the staff survey, or both.<\/p>\n

The results are available to individual schools, using a sign-in and password. The research and development office at Milwaukee Public Schools will also meet with each participating school to review the results.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
