These UWM students have lots of them"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Imagine how the UWM campus would look if we harnessed the fresh ideas of students in the recent Fresh Ideas Campaign:<\/p>\n<p>First Place: Kirsten Engens (Peck School of the Arts) wants to give students streamlined access to coffee, avoid waiting in long lines and a way to manage a coffee budget. By developing a platform that would allow users to pay a monthly or semester fee for coffee, students would order a drink by inputting location, name and drink preference into a smartphone. This would allow for the possibility of automated drink stations on campus.<\/p>\n<p>Second Place: Nicole Gorman (Peck School of the Arts) was inspired by being completely surrounded by work. Her design device is a virtual reality headset to use Adobe products such as Photoshop and Illustrator. Students and instructors could visualize and collaborate on products in a 3D, 360-degree environment.<\/p>\n<p>Third Place: Elaheh Kheirandish (College of Engineering &amp; Applied Science) visualizes macro and microstructures using holographic technology. With new 3D microscopes, scientists and researchers could use holograms to visualize nano structures and materials. This technology could help students better understand design on a micro scale. It could also be used for macro structures for architects and engineers to better understand massive structures on a more manageable level.<\/p>\n<p>The UWM Research Foundation, the UWM Student Startup Challenge and the University Innovation Fellows coordinated the Fresh Ideas Campaign to encourage students to be creative.
