A troupe of Mexican dancers in Milwaukee for Mexican Fiesta visited UWM on Wednesday, before their scheduled performances Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

The 27 young dancers and three adult leaders from the group, Mahuatzi, met with Spanish-speaking UWM employees who talked about UWM and its students, their jobs here, Latino culture in Milwaukee and the university\u2019s international student population.<\/p>\n

Mexican Fiesta arranged the visit with Javier Tapia, associate professor in the School of Education.<\/p>\n

UWM employees who guided the students were: Alberto Maldonado, assistant director of admissions; Marilyn Vazquez and Tyler Thom, advisers in admissions and recruitment, Gabriela Dorantes, academic adviser in the Roberto Hernandez Center; and Leo Serrato, a junior in mechanical engineering who works in the Roberto Hernandez Center office.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe students were very impressed with our campus and the different academic opportunities that are available,\u201d Maldonado said.<\/p>\n
