These human-made chemicals are used in products ranging from nonstick cookware to firefighting foam and can persist in the environment and water supplies for decades.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee\u2019s School of Freshwater Sciences, students are gaining valuable hands-on experience studying PFAS while contributing to research that could help address the problem. Students are actively involved in projects that examine environmental contaminants and their impacts on communities and work alongside faculty researchers.
