The Center for 21st Century Studies is accepting proposals for collaborative interdisciplinary humanities projects through April 3. Awards range from $500 to $5,000.<\/p>\n
The Center for 21st Century Studies (C21) believes that the complex challenges we face in the 21st\u00a0century are best met through collaborations across areas of expertise and experience, and that\u00a0the humanities\u00a0are a vital part of addressing these challenges.\u00a0Collaborative project funding provides\u00a0an opportunity to bring together teams of scholars to\u00a0generate\u00a0new ideas\u00a0and knowledge grounded in humanities methods and practices.<\/p>\n
C21 offers funding for two distinct categories of collaborative projects: working\u00a0groups and\u00a0collaboratories.\u00a0Working groups (eligible for $500) provide opportunities for collaborative study, research, and discussion of a common subject of interest.\u00a0Collaboratories\u00a0(eligible for up to $5,000) provide\u00a0opportunities to bring new,\u00a0humanities-informed\u00a0ideas and knowledge\u00a0to\u00a0many different audiences\u00a0both on and off campus.<\/p>\n
While the criteria for working groups will remain\u00a0largely unchanged\u00a0from previous years,\u00a0collaboratory\u00a0proposals must include a contribution to\u00a0C21\u2019s Day of Action, slated for the Spring 2027 semester. The\u00a0Day of Action\u00a0will celebrate the culmination of SLOW, C21\u2019s 2024-27 thematic cycle, and will align with C21\u2019s 2026-27 theme,\u00a0Slow Action.<\/p>\n
Slow Action will explore how the practices, methodologies, histories and theories of collective organizing across communities and institutions might provide insight for building values-rooted systems and deliberate actionable pathways that endure over time to support shared goals.<\/p>\n
