Several renovation projects this summer in the Golda Meir Library will address important needs and update outmoded spaces.<\/p>\n

A new 2,700-square-foot Graduate Student Commons on the second floor of the library’s east wing will be key to supporting student success.<\/p>\n

A collaboration between the UWM Libraries and the Graduate School, the common area will provide graduate students with a \u201cthird space\u201d for their study needs \u2014 an alternative to home and classroom \u2014 where they can come together to connect and build community.<\/p>\n

Overlooking the UWM fountain and offering ample natural light, the new commons will be accessible only to graduate students. The space will support both group and individual work. Construction is expected to be completed by the beginning of the fall semester.<\/p>\n

In addition, a second project will provide a new open study space and group study rooms on the second floor of the library’s west wing. The 2,100-square-foot area formerly housed the Archives, which moved last fall to its new quarters on the third floor. Construction on the space is scheduled to start in mid-May and last through the summer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
