MILWAUKEE \u2013 The Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters hosts a public lecture by a distinguished professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) on Tuesday, March 25.<\/p>\n
Chukuka S. Enwemeka, dean of UWM\u2019s College of Health Sciences and a renowned researcher in phototherapy, will give a talk at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery in Madison on the healing properties of near-infrared and blue light.<\/p>\n
Enwemeka\u2019s talk, \u201cFull Spectrum: The Promise of Light as Medicine,\u201d is part of the Academy\u2019s Evening Talk lecture series and is presented in partnership with the Morgridge Institute for Research on the UW-Madison campus. He will discuss the medical applications for near-infrared and blue light, delving into how phototherapy destroys dangerous pathogens and improves with a wide variety of ailments.<\/p>\n
The 7 p.m. lecture is free with registration at: www.wisconsinacademy.org\/fullspectrum. The lecture will be taped by Wisconsin Public Television for later broadcast on its stations statewide.<\/p>\n
Enwemeka joined UWM as professor and dean of the College of Health Sciences in 2009, and was appointed a UWM Distinguished Professor in 2012. He is one of the foremost authorities in the area of photo-engineering of the tissue repair process with visible and near infra-red light and lasers.<\/p>\n
