{"id":112834,"date":"2022-10-11T16:34:58","date_gmt":"2022-10-11T21:34:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/?p=112834"},"modified":"2022-10-11T16:34:58","modified_gmt":"2022-10-11T21:34:58","slug":"fafsa-for-2023-24-is-now-open-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/news\/fafsa-for-2023-24-is-now-open-2\/","title":{"rendered":"FAFSA for 2023-24 is now open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\">FAFSA<\/a> \u2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid \u2014 is now open for the 2023-24 academic year, and UWM is asking faculty and staff to help spread the word. It&#8217;s highly recommended that students complete the FAFSA now because some programs have limited funds. Any students who will be attending UWM in Fall 2023 and\/or Spring 2024 should complete the 2023-24 FAFSA.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, if faculty and staff are meeting with students who are enrolled now and haven\u2019t applied for 2022-23 financial aid, it\u2019s not too late. Let them know to be sure to select the 2022-23 FAFSA.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some additional tips to share with students:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Never pay to submit a financial aid application. Be sure to go to <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\">FAFSA.gov<\/a> to apply.<\/li>\n<li>Select the 2023-24 FAFSA; the school code for UWM is 003896.<\/li>\n<li>Use the <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/help-center\/answers\/article\/what-is-irs-drt\">IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT)<\/a> to transfer your 2021 federal tax information quickly and accurately. If you are unable to use the IRS DRT, make sure to use your 2021 federal tax information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/onestop\/finances\/receiving-financial-aid\/fafsa\/\">uwm.edu\/FAFSA<\/a> to find additional FAFSA filing
