Join UW-Milwaukee Outdoor Pursuits and the River Revitalization Foundation for this year’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival at the Oriental Theatre on Nov. 7.
This is University Recreation’s marquee fundraiser for a new scholarship that will help pay fees for Outdoor Pursuits trips and activities for UWM students who can’t afford them. Faculty, staff, students and the community are invited to buy tickets and participate in the fundraiser.
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival inspires environmental activism and a love for nature through film. Wild & Scenic shares an urgent call to action, encouraging festival-goers to learn more about what they can do to save our threatened planet. This unique film festival works with environmental groups across the globe to outreach into their communities and bring together a diverse audience that is inspired toward conservation and sustainable recreation.
Outdoor Pursuits and the River Revitalization Foundation hope to use the festival to increase a better community understanding of the connection people have with the planet and their shared role as stewards to keep it healthy for future generations. The event is also a fundraiser for a new scholarship that helps increase access to outdoor recreation opportunities for students.
The film festival includes Wild Child, a curated film series for kids and families, and an outdoor expo between showings.
