UWM women’s basketball exits Horizon League tournament

UWM’s women’s basketball team lost 62-58 to Youngstown State in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Championships Sunday afternoon and was eliminated from the tournament at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

The Panthers trailed by as many as 17 points in the third quarter, but they scored 20 straight points to lead 51-48 with 3:36 left to play. Youngstown State scored eight of the game’s next 10 points, however, and held on to its lead for good.

Jenny Lindner had 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Panthers, and Kelsey Cunningham added 12 points. UWM, which was the No. 4 seed in the tournament, saw its season record fall to 20-11.

Fifth-seeded Youngstown State got 24 points and nine rebounds off the bench from Sarah Cash.
