UWM tuition and fees to increase for 2023-24 academic year

UWM students will see an increase in their tuition and fees for the 2023-24 academic year. A listing of tuition and fees for Fall 2023 is posted on the Student Financial Services site

Tuition for undergraduate Wisconsin resident students will rise by about $360, to $8,455.

Nonresident undergraduates will see tuition increase by about $500, to $20,455.

Tuition for resident students at the Washington County and Waukesha campuses will increase by about $200, to $4,964 for the academic year.

Differential tuition: Students in College of Engineering & Applied Science and biomedical programs will see a differential tuition amount added to annual tuition. The College of Engineering & Applied Science differential is a change to an existing differential, effective immediately for all College of Engineering & Applied Science students. The differential for biomedical students applies to new students entering this fall, once they reach junior/senior status. More information will be shared with students in those programs in the coming weeks.

This tuition and fee increase is difficult yet necessary. The lack of tuition and funding increases over the last 10 years has stretched the capacity of faculty and staff across classrooms and in support and service areas. It has affected UWM’s ability to retain employees.

This change could be a potential source of stress and hardship for students, and they may have questions and concerns. If students haven’t yet filed their FAFSA, now is the time. If students have questions, they are encouraged to contact Student Financial Services, at 414-229-4541 or by email.

Fall tuition charges are anticipated to post to students’ accounts in late June.
