A new global ranking includes UWM as one of the top 500 universities in the world.
The 2018 Academic Rankings of World Universities doesn’t give UWM a specific rank but places it as one of the 401-500 best.
The rankings consider the quality of faculty and alumni, research output and per capita performance of the university. Criteria include a university’s Nobel laureates, Fields Medalists, highly cited researchers or papers published in the journals Nature and Science.
Over 1,500 universities were considered and the top 500 published. The Academic Rankings of World Universities has been published since 2003.
The Academic Rankings of World Universities also ranked individual academic subjects. UWM was ranked No. 41 for library and information science and No. 100-150 for communication.
