UWM Food Center & Pantry selected as Fresh Thyme Giving Bag recipient

The UWM Food Center & Pantry was selected as the June beneficiary for the Fresh Thyme Giving Bag program by store leadership at the 470 E. Pleasant St. location in Milwaukee.

The UWM Food Center & Pantry will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.99 reusable Giving Bag is purchased at this location during June, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.  To increase support for the UWM Food Center & Pantry, fill your bag with non-perishable food items and drop it off at a permanent donation bin.

The Fresh Thyme Giving Bag Program, which launched in March 2018, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.

“We are so thrilled to be selected for this initiative,” said Quincy Kissack, assistant director of Student Association Professional staff and sole staff person for the UWM Food Center & Pantry. “This donation will help us provide emergency food assistance to countless students, helping them to focus on academics rather than where their next meal is coming from.”

The UWM Food Center & Pantry is a student-led initiative at UW-Milwaukee founded in 2018. The food pantry has provided emergency food assistance to almost 1,000 members of the UWM community.
