Student leaders from across Wisconsin here for conference

Some 450 college students from across Wisconsin converged on the UW-Milwaukee campus for a student leadership conference, April 21-23.

The American Multicultural Student Leadership Conference is an annual statewide conference that brings students together from varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds to present research and attends workshops.

“Milwaukee is an extremely diverse city and the campus at UWM is the most diverse campus in the entire UW System,” said sophomore Badri Ouaari, who helped to organize the event. “So where is a better place to have it than here?”

This year’s event marked the first time in a decade that the conference was held at UWM. Organizers of the event also brought in community activist Rosa Clemente and comedian Hari Kondabolu.

“It’s a really good way to learn about other people’s experiences and other people’s cultures,” Ouaari said.
