Register for Doors Open Milwaukee

Please consider participating in this year’s Doors Open Milwaukee, which will take place both virtually and in person this September. All participating UWM units who contact Alyssa Conrardy will be featured on our UWM map. This is a great way to get involved as a community partner and show off the great work, research and opportunities available at UWM.

Past UWM participating units include:

  • UW-Milwaukee Joseph J. Zilber School of Public Health
  • UWM Biological Sciences Greenhouse
  • UWM Engineering and Mathematical Sciences Building
  • UWM Golda Meir Library
  • UWM Lubar Entrepreneurship Center
  • UWM Manfred Olson Planetarium

After evaluating general positive trends regarding the pandemic, receiving feedback from several Doors Open sites, and monitoring other large scale public events leading up to Doors Open, Historic Milwaukee has decided to offer open access (no ticket required) sites as an option for this year’s Doors Open. Doors Open will also shift all in-person programming to take place Sept. 25 and 26, with virtual content available to view Sept. 25 – Oct. 3. Here are all the ways you can participate:

Open access (Sept. 25 and 26): A “normal” Doors Open. Open doors to the public for tours for free. No reservations required.
Virtual site (Sept. 25 – Oct. 3): Offer online content similar to last year.

Open Access Site info: Open Access Sites will be free and open to the public during an agreed-upon time throughout the Doors Open weekend. No tickets or reservations required.

We will require all Open Access sites to provide proof of liability insurance. We also ask that Open Access sites staff their site and keep count of visitors. The visitor count must be reported to the Events Director after the event. Doors Open will also recruit volunteers; however, due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, we are unable to guarantee enough volunteers for all sites.

Please complete this form to confirm participation as an Open Access site.

Virtual Site info: If you participated as a virtual site last year, you can feel free to update or add additional content. If you would like to participate only virtually and do not wish to make any changes to your content from last year, please email ambc@uwm.edu to confirm. If you did not participate virtually last year, but would like to, we would invite you to provide that content.

Here is an example of what the virtual site pages look like.

If you participated as a virtual site last year and wish to view your page, you can do so by searching your building name on the Historic Milwaukee website, by using the search icon on the upper right menu.

To add or update virtual tour content, please complete this form.

Please complete the form by Aug. 3 to participate. Contact Alyssa Conrardy, the UWM community relations manager, to ensure you get on the UWM Doors Open map.

Please also email Conrardy if you have any questions about UWM’s involvement in the event, and Grace Fuhr from Doors Open Milwaukee at grace.fuhr@historicmilwaukee.org if you have questions about participating.
