The UWM College of Health Sciences’ Doctor of Physical Therapy students are running an eight-week exercise and wellness program for cancer survivors and are currently recruiting.
Sessions run for about eight weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 5 through May 7, between 1:30 and 3 p.m. at the Wisconsin Athletic Club, 7601 N. Port Washington Road, Fox Point.
Studies have found that cancer survivors who engage in moderate physical activity have improved physical and social functioning. Because the students gain professional experience from working with cancer survivors, there is not a fee for the class. However, there is a $10 weekly fee to belong to the Wisconsin Athletic Club during the program. Recruitment is open to any survivors.
