Press club event Feb. 27 to focus on future of UW System

Chancellor Mark Mone and two other UWM representatives will join UW System President Ray Cross Feb. 27 on a panel discussing the future of the state university system.

Mone and Cross will be joined on the panel by Kristian O’Connor, professor of health sciences and chair of UWM’s University Committee, and Alyssa Molinski, president of the UWM Student Association.

The panel will be featured at the Milwaukee Press Club’s “Behind the Headlines” series from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Lake Express Ferry Terminal, 2330 S. Lincoln Memorial Drive.

The session will explore concerns about enrollment and tuition, as well as the dropping of humanities courses at some campuses and possible mission changes.

Members of the media panel include Dave Edwards, general manager of WUWM, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Annysa Johnson and John Torinus, op-ed writer for Urban Milwaukee.

The cost to attend is $20 for Milwaukee Press Club members, $25 for non-members and $15 for students. Lunch is included in the ticket cost. Please note that seating will be limited, and advanced registration and payment are required.
