Mortar Board, a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for distinguished ability and achievement in scholarship, leadership, and service, is now accepting applications. Students can apply for themselves, or staff and students can nominate a student.
Mortar Board organizes and hosts fundraisers throughout the year, holds volunteer service events and allows members to network professionally, socially and academically. Its mission is to excel in scholarship, leadership and service.
Mortar Board is a nationally recognized honors society, with past student members such as:
- Sandra Day O’Connor, Supreme Court associate justice
- Maya Angelou, poet
- President Jimmy Carter
- Sally Ride, first female U.S. astronaut
- Fred Rogers, educator, minister, and host of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood”
Requirements to join: junior standing at UWM and a minimum of 3.0 GPA. All majors and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. (We will consider GPAs below 3.0, if student has vast volunteer or leadership involvement.)
Applications due Dec. 22; selections made Jan. 3.
