M³ to honor more than 100 MPS students at College Connections celebration

MILWAUKEE _ More than 100 Milwaukee Public Schools high school seniors will be honored for completing the M³ College Connections dual enrollment program on Wednesday, June 15, at Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Downtown Milwaukee campus.

M³ (pronounced “M-Cubed”) is a partnership among Milwaukee’s three largest public education institutions: the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, MATC and MPS. The College Connections celebration will be the first to be held in person since the inaugural class in 2019 after virtual events were held the previous two years because of the COVID pandemic.

This is the M³ partnership’s largest-ever College Connections class. Students who complete the program graduate with as many as 21 college credits. M³ estimates that College Connections students have saved more than $1 million in tuition costs since the program started in 2019.

Media are invited to attend this special event.

WHEN: Wednesday, June 15, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
WHERE: MATC Downtown Milwaukee campus, Main Building, 700 West State Street, Room M605

More information

The M³ College Connections dual enrollment program has more than tripled in size since the first class in 2019. College Connections gives MPS students a chance to take courses at MATC and UWM and get a taste of college life while completing their senior year in high school.

College Connections is just one way that M³ is striving to transform the future of Milwaukee through education.

M³ helps parents of MPS students prepare for their child’s transition to college through its Parent Institute. M³ partners work together to encourage students and their families to fill out the FAFSA form, which unlocks opportunities to access grants, scholarships and other types of aid that can help pay for higher education.

This month, M³ is proud to launch its Smart Start initiative, which will connect MPS high school seniors planning to attend MATC or UWM with coordinated support through the admissions process, summer bridge programming and co-curricular activities during the participant’s first semester as a college student.
