Dean’s Distinguished Lecture in the Natural Sciences: The Serengeti Rules
October 4, 2016 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Join us for the annual Dean’s Distinguished Lecture in the Natural Sciences, sponsored by the College of Letters & Science.
This year we are pleased to present Sean B. Carroll, an award-winning scientist, author, educator, and executive producer from the Department of Science Education of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and UW-Madison, where he is the Allan Wilson Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics.
In The Serengeti Rules, Carroll will explore how life works. How does nature produce the right numbers of zebras and lions on the African savanna, or fish in the ocean? How do our bodies produce the right numbers of cells in our organs and bloodstream?
Carroll will tell the stories of the pioneering scientists who sought the answers to such simple yet profoundly important questions, and show how their discoveries matter for our health and the health of the planet we depend upon.
The Dean’s Distinguished Lecture in the Natural Sciences is made possible by a gift from Dr. Robert Greenler.
The address is free and open to the public, and will be held in the Helene Zelazo Center, Room 250.
