Cleanup day recognizes importance of UWM neighbors

Media are invited to attend as UWM students, faculty, staff and campus neighbors participate in a cleanup day in the neighborhood surrounding the Milwaukee campus on Wednesday, April 13.

Cleanup groups will assemble in the UWM Student Union, departing at 4 p.m. to pick up trash in surrounding neighborhoods and chalk sidewalks with recycling tips. About 50 people are expected to participate. (In the event of severe weather, the event will be canceled.)

“We’re excited to get staff and students out in the neighborhood this spring to give back to our community, as it is vital to UWM,” said Alyssa Conrardy, outreach program manager for Neighborhood Housing & Relations at UWM.

The local event is part of the inaugural International Campus & Community Day sponsored by the International Town and Gown Association, meant to recognize the important relationship between campuses and their host communities.
