$11,000 in prizes offered at UWM research poster competition

With generous sponsorship by Milwaukee area industries, $11,000 in prize money will be awarded to UWM engineering and computer science students at the UWM College of Engineering & Applied Science’s 11th annual Student Research Poster Competition. Two students (first-place undergraduate winner, first-place graduate winner) will take home $2,000 each.

This year’s event will be held Saturday, April 27, from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UWM Student Union. Nearly 100 volunteers – professional engineers, scientists and academics — will judge the research presentations of the undergraduate and graduate students.

Sponsors include: GE Healthcare, Johnson Controls, Dedicated Computing, Sage Water, We Energies Foundation, ANSYS, Eaton, the family of Michael Krauski, Generac, GRAEF and Rockwell Automation.

Last December, UWM once again earned “R1” (Research 1) status. Only 131 of more than 4,300 universities received this designation from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Presenting research findings to professionals from all areas of industry underscores the depth of opportunities at UWM, one of the nation’s top research universities.

Media members are welcome.
