Wisconsin Telecommunication Relay Service

The Department of Administration (DOA)/Division of Enterprise Technology (DET) has consistently been providing its Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay Service (WTRS) since 1992, complying within the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) minimum mandatory requirements as identified in Title IV of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which can be found at http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/title-iv-ada at its the most cost-effective ideas and technique to restrain or reduce the cost of WTRS, and to promote ideas about community outreach.

The purpose of Telecommunications Relay Service being mandated by ADA is to provide the ability for an individual who is deaf, hard of hearing, deaf/blind and speech challenged to engage in communication by wire or radio with a hearing individual in a manner that is functionally equivalent to the ability of an individual who does not have a hearing or speech disability to communicate using voice communication services by wire or radio.  Such term includes services that enable two-way communication between an individual who uses a text telephone or other non-voice terminal device and an individual who does not use such devices.  For more information about WTRS, please check the following link – http://www.wisconsinrelay.com/.
