10-DIGIT DIALING IS COMING

ATT in compliance with the FCC will require 10-digit dialing in the near future (date TBD). 4-digit dialing from Centrex to Centrex will remain, but calls from Centrex on-campus to non-Centrex, off-campus phone numbers will require 9+10-digit dialing.

LOCAL AND LONG DISTANCE DIALING CHANGE

Effective 03/09/2021, all local or long distance calls (made to phone numbers that do not share the originating phone numbers exchange – ie: 229, 382, 227, etc.) must be made by first dialing 9+ 7- or 10-digit phone number (depends on local or long distance).

LONG DISTANCE CARRIER CHANGE

CenturyLink has replaced AT&T as UWM’s long-distance carrier. It is important that the correct dialing procedure be used for making outbound calls from an office line. If this procedure is not followed correctly, your department may incur and be billed for substantial phone charges.AT&T remains UWM’s local service provider and the carrier for local calls.

WAIVER OF DISCONNECTION FEE

As of September 1, 2019 the labor/materials fee ($82/hr) will no longer be applied to telephone disconnection request. Departments are encouraged to disconnect any phone numbers that are not in use or no longer needed.

LONG DISTANCE DISCLAIMER

All telephone lines, unless otherwise requested, are capable of making campus, local, 1-800 and long distance (including overseas) calls. If you want to restrict a telephone line’s long distance capabilities, please call 414-229-5800.
