On the listings page, you can sort housing results based on your specific needs. Basic filtering is available at the top of the page, so you can change the results by price, bedrooms, and lease length. There are also advanced filtering options available. For more information on each property, click on the listing, This will prompt a box to pop-up. You will see pictures if the landlord included any, street view which allows you to take a look at the neighborhood, and walk times which will show you your transportation options from that listing to campus including the city bus system, driving times, walking times, and biking times. Additionally, you will find property highlights, a description, amenities, and ratings on each property. You can contact the property manager by clicking on email or the phone number button on the right side of the page.
The Neighborhood Housing Office does not set up showings to see the rental unit, so you will need to contact the landlord and arrange to view the rental unit.
Rentals/listings – These are units available by the landlord. These listings will require you to sign a legally-binding contract or lease of a certain length, which can range from 3 months-12 months.
Sublease – These are posted by students who have signed a lease for a rental but would like someone to live in their room and make monthly payments for it while they are away. This could be for any amount of time the student needs someone to take over their space. A new lease is agreed upon and signed by both you and the landlord in this circumstance.
Housing around campus is available year-round, so once you are in Milwaukee and able to set up showings or appointments to view the properties, this can help you secure housing within a few weeks. From the time you start looking for housing and going on showings to when you can move in will usually be about 2 weeks to 1 month.
