A UWM police officer shot an individual on Tuesday, March 19th in the morning hours near the loading dock by the Fine Arts Building off E. Kenwood Blvd. The individual, who is not connected to UWM, was taken to the hospital. No UWM students or employees were injured in the incident. An investigation is underway. Campus is open, although the area around the Fine Arts Building has been blocked off by police, including parts of E. Kenwood Blvd. from N. Downer Ave. to N. Farwell Ave.
Peck School Facilities Closed
The Fine Arts Complex at the Peck School of the Arts, which includes the Art Building, the Theatre Building, the Music Building and the Arts Center Lecture Hall, and the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts are closed this morning while police investigate. Police expect the buildings to open later today. Other campus buildings are open.
