As the temperatures and leaves drop, there are more opportunities to help keep the UWM community clean and safe!
The UWM Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership, and Research is hosting Make A Difference Day on November 10th. Sign up as an individual or with a team to help clean up the neighborhood and winterize homes of local older adults. The event is from 9am to 1pm with complimentary breakfast provided!
The Panther Neighborhood Watch Pledge helps promote safety and security in the neighborhood surrounding UWM. By signing the pledge, Panthers agree to update their address in PAWS, introduce themselves to their neighbors, and report events that may endanger fellow students or community members. Signers will also receive a free pair of sunglasses from the NHO!
Residents may rake their leaves into the street from October 1 through November 15th. Piles should be 1 foot into the street and away from sewer grates, storm drains and low hanging trees. After November 15th, sanitation crews from the Department of Public Works will pick up remaining leaf piles to be composted. Pumpkins can be disposed of in garbage carts or composted if they have no candle wax or decorations on them. You can also request a brush collection for yard waste other than leaves.
