“We will discuss discrete-time dynamical systems, giving definitions and some examples. We will culminate by stating without proof Sarkovsky’s Theorem on the periodicity of points for such a system, and will prove the special case stated by Yorke and Li in their 1975 paper “Period Three Implies Chaos.” The implications of these theorems will be explored by investigating special cases of the logistic family of maps.”
