“Even if it might seem like a trip to Hogwarts by taking a train from Platform 9 ¾: There is indeed a way to define fractional derivatives, for example half derivatives, of functions- and fractional calculus is actually almost as old as calculus itself. In this talk, fractional derivatives will be considered in the context of anomalous sub and super diffusions as well as other filters arising in image processing. The resulting partial differential equations will be discretized in space and time and a numerical investigation will be performed to illustrate new and interesting results”.
