M-Cubed Advisory Board Member Jackie Herd-Barber noted the work being done. \u201cFor years, we\u2019ve talked about removing barriers for young people. M-Cubed is actually doing it,\u201d she said. \u201cMore students stepping onto college campuses means more opportunity, and that momentum matters for our entire community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the M-Cubed partnership, MPS, MATC, and UWM collective efforts include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Academic and career planning for every MPS student, which includes college exploration;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>M-Cubed Milwaukee Parent Institute to help MPS families leverage high school to better navigate college preparation;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tours of MATC and UWM for thousands of MPS students each year;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work-based learning, including apprenticeships and internships, at all three institutions so students can envision themselves in a career and understand the education and training to get there;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dual enrollment allowing MPS students to earn UWM and MATC college credits while still in high school, including through M-Cubed College Connections;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>M-Cubed Smart Start, a bridge program that helps MPS seniors register for classes, prepare for college, and start at MATC and UWM as part of a supportive group; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Direct Admit options that allow students to apply to more than a dozen Wisconsin schools through a streamlined application that takes less than 10 minutes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Greg Wesley of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and an M-Cubed Advisory Board Member observed, \u201cThe M-Cubed collaboration unlocks long-term community impact that can\u2019t be attained in silos. We are witnessing this in real time as increasing numbers of Milwaukee students follow the pathways to higher education that M-Cubed has forged. Young people\u2014many for the first time\u2014can see themselves attending and thriving in college.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The data illustrate the strength of this trend for enrollments in Fall 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>551 MPS Class of 2025 graduates attended MATC, a 32% increase compared to 419 students in 2023.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>478 MPS Class of 2025 graduates enrolled and started at UWM, a 61% increase compared to 297 students in 2023.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/m-cubed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/427\/2026\/06\/20260517_EH_IMC_9518-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1969\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uwm.edu\/m-cubed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/427\/2026\/06\/20260517_EH_IMC_9518-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/uwm.edu\/m-cubed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/427\/2026\/06\/20260517_EH_IMC_9518-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/uwm.edu\/m-cubed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/427\/2026\/06\/20260517_EH_IMC_9518-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/uwm.edu\/m-cubed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/427\/2026\/06\/20260517_EH_IMC_9518-1536x1025.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/uwm.edu\/m-cubed\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/427\/2026\/06\/20260517_EH_IMC_9518-2048x1366.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">M-Cubed Advisory Board Member Cristy Garcia-Thomas of the Greater Milwaukee Committee noted the impact on the entire Milwaukee community. \u201cSeeing more MPS graduates choosing MATC and UWM for higher education is exciting, and shows promise for our community and future workforce,\u201d she said. \u201cM-Cubed is creating stronger pathways to opportunity by aligning systems, removing barriers, and investing in student success.
