SUMMARY:WELL Entrepreneur: Community Conversations with Susan A. Lubar\, Growing Minds Inc. Mindfulness and the Rollercoaster of the Entrepreneurial Path
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our next Well Entrepreneur as we welcome Susan A. Lubar the President and Founder of Growing Minds. Explore how to increase your emotional well being as an entrepreneur.  The conversation will address: \n\nHow might we re-imagine a healthier path of entrepreneurship in a way that supports individual and collective well being?\nHow to bring the ‘whole person’ to how you lead\, and support the same for employees?\nWhat does it look like to manage your expectations of what needs to happen and what can actually happen within a time frame?\n\n\nSusan founded Growing Minds after recognizing that developing a keen sense of awareness was the most valuable skill she had encountered for children. Growing Mind’s mission is to empower adults to build safe and trusting relationships\, thus creating kinder communities and better learning environments for youth. Susan has trained with the most established programs\, including Mindfulness in Schools Project .b and .b Foundations\, Mindful Schools\, Learning to Breathe\, UCSD Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Teacher training and Mindful Self-Compassion with Kristen Neff to develop the programs that would be useful to Milwaukee area schools. \nCheck out Growing Minds website here\, and their Instagram here. \nASL Interpreters and Closed Captionists are already secured and will make this event accessible. \nWe look forward to seeing you!

SUMMARY:LEC Teaching Fellows Speaker Series featuring Erica Estrada-Liou
DESCRIPTION:Erica Estrada – Liou is the Director of Curriculum & Experiential Learning at University of Maryland — Academy for Innovation & Entrepreneurship. \n  \nUniversity of Maryland Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship(AIE) was launched by UMD President Wallace Loh in 2013 and charged with engaging all 40\,000+ of our students in innovation & entrepreneurship (I&E) experiences to prepare them to tackle the world’s toughest problems. UMD is 54% of the way towards that goal as a result of extensive campus-wide collaboration across every school and college. \n  \nHow are we accomplishing this? By adopting and adapting the same innovation methods successful startups use – design thinking and lean startup. We often ask our students: “What problem are you trying to solve and for whom?” When we asked ourselves this question\, we talked to students from all over campus and discovered that they’re often forced to choose between either graduating on time or pursuing real-world projects and ventures they’re passionate about. We’re solving that problem by allowing students to do both through I&E experiences embedded directly in the core curriculum so that exploring their passions actually moves them closer to graduation rather than farther away. \nASL Interpreters and Closed Captionists are already secured and will make this event accessible.
