Seventh Annual UWM Design Entrepreneur Showcase

Students in the Peck School of the Arts (PSOA) Design and Visual Communication (DVC) program showcased their semester-long work December 11th and 12th, in the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center at the Design Entrepreneur Showcase. This year’s subject of focus for the DVC was inspired by speakers from two guest panels that spoke in the DVC course regarding Healthy Cities. Students focused on innovating, researching, and prototyping socially-conscious products and services that addressed issues concerning Healthy Cities. More specifically, students focused on: climate change, consumption, workforce up-skilling, health, community, education, water, and aging populations.

During class time, students participated in a pitch competition, these students, pictured below, were announced at the showcase on Thursday. Additionally, the People’s Choice (online and in person), was announced Friday, December 13th (pictured on far left end in photo below).

Winners from the 2019 DVC Pitch Competition: (Left to Right) Maddy Margulis, Adam Zinger, Jojo West, Samantha Blixt, and Hayley Stumbris.

At the showcase winners of the pitch competition pitched their products and services. Additionally, keynote speaker Steve Glynn, Director of Entrepreneurship for The Water Council, gave a speech.
