Fall 2022 Programming Preview!

Welcome back for another semester everyone! The LEC has a ton of fun and informative events ready for the fall. All of our events are open to everyone on campus – regardless of whether you are a business major, entrepreneur, or just interested in the program! To learn more about our fall programming, read on.

Wednesdays – Brown Bag Lunches

12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the LEC – 2nd floor

If you are in the LEC at the noon hour on Wednesdays, we welcome you to join our LEC Brown Bag Hour. Bring your lunch, bring your smile, bring you! Flexible, casual, drop in when you can.

 

10/4 – Diverse Ideas with Héctor Colón

12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the LEC

Diverse Ideas is a talk series that partners with UWM offices to invite global and local entrepreneurs/community innovators for an intimate chat with UWM students, faculty, and staff. The first Diverse Ideas of the semester will feature UWM Regent Héctor Colón, cosponsored by the Roberto Hernández Center.

 

10/15 – Startup Challenge Kick Off – Product Market Fit and Customer Discovery

9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the LEC

Startup Challenge participants will explore who your product or service helps and how it serves them. You will also learn how to find out if that model is sustainable over time.

 

10/20 – Panther Pitch

5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the LEC

Got an idea? Beginner and experienced pitchers are invited to share ideas and compete at this pitch competition co-sponsored with the UWM Black Student Cultural Center. Meet with established business professionals, network with our community, and win cool prizes and swag.

 

10/17 – Diverse Ideas with Angelique Sharpe

12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the LEC

October’s second Diverse Ideas will feature Angelique Sharpe, the Director of the Villard Avenue Business Improvement District. Angelique is responsible for the revitalization, management and oversight of a Historic Main street Business Corridor that has experienced decades of disinvestment.

 

11/5 – Startup Challenge Business Model Canvas Mixer

9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the LEC

Learn how to work with the most used tool for startups in the world: the Business Model Canvas! Develop a model for your venture and work with an industry mentor on testing it out with your stakeholders.

 

12/10 – Startup Challenge Customer Discovery Report Out

9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the LEC

It’s time for a cohort feedback session! Present what you’ve learned about your business model and customers so far, garner feedback, and give advice to your peers as you learn about their ventures.
