SUMMARY:Social Good Morning - Tiffany Yvonne
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we welcome UWM School of Continuing Education alum and Executive Leadership Coach Tiffany Yvonne. Over the years\, Tiffany has designed and orchestrated trainings\, workshops\, and experiences that equip leaders with a framework to coach themselves and their team. Her workshops improve well-being\, engagement\, and overall work performance – aligning ‘people strategy’ with ‘profit strategy.’ She is a past participant in the UWM Startup Challenge with her venture Purposeful Play that uses intentional curriculum that integrates Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as well as physical activity\, which provides a wholistic approach to addressing the health needs of youth in our communities. Her strategies to co-create organizational effectiveness\, employee experience\, and courageous communication help leaders develop “PLAY To Win Plans” so they can maximize outcomes and change work culture. \nSocial Good Morning is a conversation series hosted by the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center that invites local social innovators to have a conversation about entrepreneurship in our communities. These discussions are moderated by an LEC team member including our featured Entrepreneurs-in-Residence. Innovators will have a brief interview followed by an open-format discourse\, fielding questions from the audience about their strategies and passions. Topics of conversation range from poverty to sustainability to inclusivity and beyond.

SUMMARY:Everyday Resilience: From Striving to Thriving - Managing Strong Emotion
DESCRIPTION:Each day\, the stress we feel can get the best of us and affect our judgments and ability to think with the clarity needed. Stress can cause us to act and react in ways we otherwise would not. In this session you will gain an understanding of the neuroscience and physiology of your difficult emotions and learn to pivot\, leading yourself and others more intentionally. Discover skills like Your Stress Profile and the Three Minute Breathing Space which open the door to approaching your body’s signals as radar. By the end of the session\, you will see how to use your stress patterns as a superpower for wellbeing and emotional balance in any setting.  \nRegister below to join us on March 14th 11:00am – 12:30pm in the LEC Nicholas Innovation Commons (room #105). \nAbout this course:\nResilience is our innate ability to move through and adapt to challenges in a healthy way. This series will explore how the neuroscience and principles and practices of mindfulness and self-compassion can serve as accessible tools to cultivate sustainable well-being and deepen a sense of purpose in your daily life and work. Investing your time in series will support you in learning to lead from a place of intention\, using your attention to navigate difficulties and embrace joy.  \nParticipants are welcome to sign up for an individual session or the full series\, and need only to attend the morning or evening sessions. Participation at each of the three sessions is encouraged but not necessary.  \n\nThe Lubar Entrepreneurship Center is pleased to partner with Susan Lubar and Growing Minds on this project.   \nGrowing Minds has been a pioneer in Southeastern Wisconsin in the area of mental and emotional health as a teachable skill for overall well-being. Founded with the hypothesis that with two minutes every day\, educators\, students and others\, can learn to manage their nervous system\, and then set intentions for who they want to be or grow into. Expanding beyond the moment\, the compound value of this daily practice could keep well-being at the forefront of one’s mind and naturally grow calmer and more purposeful teams of people. To meet this end\, Growing Minds uses short\, research-based practices that train the mind to be more grounded and less reactive. These skills build the foundation for more compassionate relationships where individuals have greater opportunities to thrive\, no matter their circumstances.

SUMMARY:Diverse Ideas - AN OX CAFE
DESCRIPTION:The Lubar Entrepreneurship Center and the Southeast Asian American Student Center are excited to welcome the co-owner of AN OX CAFE\, Sia Xiong\, our Diverse Ideas guest for Women’s History Month! \nSia Xiong and her husband came to the United States in 1979 and have been working on opening their own restaurant since 2018. After much anticipation\, they finally opened their doors in 2022 and welcomed their first guest. The name AN OX comes from the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Ox\, when both of the owners were born. Sia strives to create a space that is easily accessible to everyone. \nJoin us for a lunch with a mix of Asian Fusion food and a focus on Lao and Thai cuisine provided by AN OX CAFE as we hear about Sia Xiong’s experiences in the food service industry. \nDiverse Ideas is a talk series that partners with UWM offices to invite global and local entrepreneurs/community innovators for an intimate chat with UWM students\, faculty\, and staff. By offering these talks\, LEC hopes to build a larger and more diverse network of students involved in entrepreneurship\, including one that spans across disciplines and majors. Speakers share their stories and give advice in an open-forum conversation with attendees. Learn with us how to improve our community and work together to problem-solve.
