Land: How the Hunger for Ownership Shaped the Modern World—Author Event with Simon Winchester
January 28 @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
In collaboration with Boswell Book Company, the American Geographical Society Library presents Simon Winchester, author of the new book, Land: How the Hunger for Ownership Shaped the Modern World, in conversation with AGSL Curator Marcy Bidney. AGSL helped with research for Land and provided one of the maps featured in the book.
Simon Winchester is the acclaimed author of many books, including The Map That Changed the World, A Crack in the Edge of the World, and Pacific, all of which were New York Times bestsellers and appeared on numerous best and notable lists.
Employing the keen intellect, insatiable curiosity, and narrative verve that are the foundations of his previous bestselling works, Winchester examines in Land what we human beings are doing and have done with the billions of acres that together make up the solid surface of our planet.
