Doors Open Milwaukee: UWM Golda Meir Library

The UWM Libraries will join Doors Open Milwaukee on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Visit three outstanding collections located in the UWM Golda Meir Library and view some of their rare and fascinating treasures.
The internationally-renowned American Geographical Society Library, formed in the early 1850s to promote the collection and diffusion of geographical and statistical information, contains over 1.3 million items dating from 1452, including maps, atlases, globes, books, periodicals, and photographs. During Doors Open Milwaukee, the AGSL will have a variety of cartographic treasures from their collections on display.
The UWM Archives features the history of the Milwaukee region. Explore unique collections that tell the story of Milwaukee from the 1800s to the present, including the city’s social justice movements, industrial achievements, and diverse people. Visit the Archives during Doors Open Milwaukee for an insider’s view of local history.
Special Collections holds over 70,000 printed materials from the 15th century to the present, covering a wide range of disciplines and topics. During Doors Open Milwaukee they will offer a sampling from the collection, from early printed books to contemporary publications, and from fine press and artist’s books and to comic books and zines.
