Libraries Working with Faculty on Wiley Textbook Access

The UWM Libraries recently learned that a number of Wiley e-textbook titles have been pulled from Ebook Central Academic Complete. In all, Wiley removed 1,379 e-textbooks from the platform, some of which UWM faculty and instructors planned to use in their fall courses. These resources are now only available for students to purchase directly; they are no longer available through library aggregators or Wiley Online Library.

To help faculty and instructors manage this unexpected change, the UWM Libraries will consider purchasing physical copies of Wiley textbooks previously included in EBook Central. Books can be placed on 2-hour course reserve. Additionally, the Libraries can scan a portion of the textbook for faculty and instructors to post on their Canvas site.

Associate Director of Collections and Resources Chris Doll is eager to work with faculty and instructors on this issue. He asks that those affected please reach out to his team at libacq@uwm.edu or to him personally at cmdoll@uwm.edu. “We will work with you to find a solution,” he says.
