Michael Doylen, Associate Vice Provost and Director of the UWM Libraries, has been appointed 2019 Chair-Elect of the Wisconsin Association of Academic Libraries (WAAL), serving as Chair in 2020.
WAAL, a division of the Wisconsin Library Association, works to improve library services to Wisconsin’s academic and research libraries, and provide opportunities for professional development to those who work in the state’s college, university and technical school libraries.
Doylen has led the UWM Libraries since June 2016, and served as Assistant Director with responsibility for Archives, Special Collections, and the Music Library since 2012. Prior to these appointments, he served as interim Assistant Director of User Services (2010-2012) and Head of the Archives (2003-2016) at the UWM Libraries.
He is an adjunct instructor in the UWM School of Information Studies (SOIS), where he teaches a course on archives administration and guest lectures in other courses. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an M.L.I.S. from UWM’s SOIS.
